Here at Carr, we now off an ash, alder, rosewood and maple roasting service.

We also hope to expand our roasting repetoire in the near future however we have not yet quite perfected the procedure for other wood options.

 

The specific kiln roasting process removes 99% of the moisture contained within whilst collapsing the mico-fibrillic cellulose cell walls of the wood.

This process offers several advantages.  The wood becomes much less susceptible to moisture and climate changes. This gives a far more stable piece of wood that is significantly lighter in weight.

The finished product also develops a warm rich color and has enhanced tone and greater sustain. The depth of colour can be varied depending on the time it spends in the kiln.
