Here you can find a short list of our most commonly asked questions.If you have any suggestions for the list that might help others visiting the site or have any burning questions, please do contact us.
1. Why Carr Customs?
We are 100% confident that we offer the some of the highest quality and most accurate vintage and modern recreations in the world today, perhaps with the exception of the master builders of the Fender & Gibson Custom Shops, those chaps do know a thing or two!
Alongside this, we are the first and only UK an EU Custom Shop to make available something we like to call, The Vault.
Furthermore we are the only UK & EU Custom Shop to offer a true artist inspired line, body and neck roasting and who could forget our tailored case candy, no one doe it like us.
We are massively proud of all the guitars that leave our hands, we know that you will love yours.
2. How do I order a custom guitar?
All orders are custom commissioned builds. The best way to start the process is to email us or leave us a message on our phone.
For complete build costs please do contact us for a quote without charge.
To give you a good idea of costs & pricing for custom ordered guitars, we generally range between £1500-£5000, depending on the level of custom work.
However this is just a gernerality and of course depending on what is required, it can fall below the above range, but also rise well above it.
The skies are not the limit, just your imagination and curiosity!
3. How long will my order take?
With every build being unique and individualised it is an impossible question to answer. However, we will provide a rough estimate on your order confirmation.
In general, most projects take anywhere between 3-7 months depending on the extent of custom work required.
4. How can I pay for a custom guitar?
We accept payment by cheque, bank transfer and via Paypal. Please do send us an email at hjcarrcustoms@gmail.com
5. Will I love this guitar forever, and sleep with it at night?
Yes, it is more than likely that you will be compelled to defend your new guitar to the death if necessary.
6. Do Carr Customs instruments come with a warranty?
Yes, we are hugely proud of each guitar that leaves our workshop and we are 100% confident that our guitars will not let you down, should you take care of it, of course!
As such we provide a 24 month limited warranty, the details of which you can find in the terms of service.
7. Are your guitars 'set up'?
Yes. All of our guitars receive a professional set up. This can either be fully catered to the needs of the client as specified by them.
Alternatively we can provide a more general set up however it will be to the same standard as above.
A fully optimised set up is usually the difference between a fantastic guitar, and an exceptional one.
8. What is your quest in life?
To seek the Holy Grail.
9. How do you quality check your guitars prior to shipping?
We perform our own 12 stage inspection after it is set up in order to ensure it is up to our strict high quality standards.This includes everything from a meticulous finish inspection, to ensuring the strap buttons are secure and finally plugging it in for a quick noodle to test all the electronics.
10. Are your guitars available from retailers?
Currently no, all guitars are ordered and made exclusively through Carr Customs.
However, the future may see small quantities with retailers.
11. I can not find what I am looking for on your websites, what should I do?
As you can imagine, it would be impractical to list absolutely everything we offer on our sites. Please do contact us at hjcarrcustoms@gmail.com and we will do our best to help you out.
12. Can you put Fender & Gibson headstock decals on your guitars?
For the obvious reasons of illegality, no. We have our own headstock decal and often also inlay that looks beautiful on our guitars!

14. What's all this about a 2 websites then?
Currently we use two separate websites to showcase our work to the world. They both contain the same information and we will shortly be merging them together.
We will soon be removing www.carr-thecustomshop.com so please bookmark www.carrcustomguitars.com.

15. Do you offer any financing?
Currently no however, we will do our best to offer alternative specifcation and options that may assist with lowering the overall cost of the instrument.

17. Are your guitars available in left handed versions?
Yes, we offer left handed versions for all of our instruments and unlike almost all other instrument makers, we do not charge extra.

18. What comes in your case candy?
We like to keep this as a bit of a surprise but, we can tell you that we individually tailor our case candy to suit each client's musical tastes, and also their choice of custom guitar. We hand pick our case candy and throw in a few surprises that we know you will absolutely love.
No one does it like us.
19. Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship to almost every country in the world. This will however as you can imagine, come at some extra cost to UK shipment.
20. Can I cancel my order, alter my specification or return my custom guitar?
Yes, you can cancel your order at any time up until the signed order confirmation stage.
Due to the custom nature of these instruments, they cannot be returned unless they arrive faulty.
Please see the terms of service for full information regarding cancellations, returns and alterations.
21. Customs, Duties & Taxes?
Should you be receiving one of our guitars from outside the UK, you may be subject to such import taxes, customs duties and fees, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country.
All additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by the recipient and are not the responsibility of Carr Customs.
